Let's get some old books

Researcher!
Yes, been awhile I know from my last posts. I am working toward another set of revisions if I have to to make sure that the work is complete. I'm thinking that within a few months there will be full draft of the book and will be given to an editor. All people who followed this blog should at least post something on here to express something.

Another book that backs a theory

The Book
Soucese of Japanese Tradition vol. 1
Compiled by Ryusaku Tsunoda, WM. Theodore de Bary, Donald Keene
ISBN: 0-231-08604-0

Reading Chapter 1 and also some of the backing that the book seems to follow, the Japanese were considered to be Korean, or at least had crossings with the Korean nation. Though the debate is always going to reign that Japan in itself is who they are and don't need to explain their origins. Convincing the world that the source is just that island is just another drawing of the ideas of that.

Though this is the one book I have found that there are excerts from the Nihongi (Chronicles of Japan) and the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Matters). There are a lot of things that are covered including a work history of what the Chinese documented from Japan and also the dealings they had. There is a sense that the Japanese and Chinese back then were not fond of each other considering that both considered themselves quite the center of the world.

In my opinion, I have rad a book from the same publisher, it is called Sources of Chinese Tradition, and the volumes do show some of the literary history as well as some of the cultural traditions.

This book, as dated as it is, is still one of the most accurate when it comes to the mythology studies, regardless of what is going on now.

Modern Japanese Culture
Edited by Yoshio Sugimoto
ISBN: 978-0-521-88047-3

This book, is more of a commentary on how Anime culture seems to influence. There is a sense that this is more of a history of Manga and Anime, then about a culture. Though culture of many nations are still considered influences on anime and artwork.

I have yet to really get too deeply into the book.

Debate of the years

As I do my research on Japanese mythology, I am still looking it through the eyes of one of the Western nations, not as a Japanese would. There is evidence that some of people of Japan came through during the 400,000 bce with the move of the Ainu people into what is now Honshu, then the movement in the 3000 bce from people in Central Asia from means of Korea.

There is some evidence that says some of the people of Japan are directly related to the royal families of old Korea. In truth, the debate of whether they are Korean or not, is still a very tightly held and debated subject. In truth, I don't really want to take a side, though the way Joseph Campbell took it is that is just conjuncture and also flow of people's. It could be that we are looking a possible if not theoretical idea that the movements as seen in the book, Oriental Mythology by Joesph Campbell does show some sense of facts.

I am always looking at different possiblities to explain some of the culture. The idea of language in the linguistic histories is that Japanese is Altaic, which is languages that are ONLY found in Southern Asian nations and born from Chinese. In truth, the only thing born from Chinese in Japan is hanzi or Kanji. So you are looking at different theories that are possible for a nation to exist in its own way.

The theories that I am running into are from the books and also histories of Asia that I have checked out of the libraries. If anyone has any questions, yes, I will take to answering, but I'm kind of getting ready to move yet again.

Images from the Deep: Japan's Tsunami

Appears that someone sent down scuba divers to take a look at the wreckage of the terrible tsunami that struck Japan in March. Please take a look at this video at Scuba Divers Reveal Remnants of Japan Tsunami

Its a sad thing to look at, but yet, these memories will remain.

Book news!

News
After collecting as much as I can for the summer to read, I'm kind of surprised at the moment with all the new information that I am gathering and preparing to do a rewrite yet again. I will be posting a perspective idea onto the blog soon that will be interesting.

I am working with Animeland Wasabi with planning a new set of panels for 2012, and also preparing with looking at out of state conventions to do the panels there. If anyone wants to join in, please understand, the best part is that we care about nearly everyone's opinion.

The blog will be put on a flyer for Animeland Wasabi next year so people can access it and also get information or find out new books we are looking into.

Books
Each update, I'm going to post some of the books that are becoming part of my research, if you can find them, that's amazing and fun. Also be aware that if you are using these for research in classes, be sure to know your formats.

An Introduction to Oriental Mythology

Clio Whittaker

1-55521-451-7

This is actually an excellent example of some of the artwork and also some of the pictures show some of the temples and statues of the Gods.

Recommendations for formatting a paper for classes

If you are a high school or college student you must remember what the formats for most of the research. There are the Chicago style, which has footnotes and information pertaining to the book. There is MLA which I can't remember what the acronym is for, but this is the basic, this has a works cited page located at the end where you put your cited works. There is also the AP Link(Associated Press) and one that is used for medical students.

For classes in English, usually the MLA format is the accepted form you use, while some will actually as for AP or even Chicago. Though if you are attending most high schools, you are expected to have the MLA format as standard.

Here is a listing of books for MLA:
MLA Handbook for Writing of Research Papers
Writer's Inc. (used by most high schools)

APA, or American Psychological Association has its own style as well, these are used in classes that are for Philosophy and also Psychology courses. These are mostly used in colleges and some high school classes.

Books for APA:
The APA Pocket handbook
Consise Rules of APA style
Mastering APA style

The AP or Associated Press is usually used by journalism students and often has been used to do journals as well as books, and sometimes magazines. I encourage many people to actually read some of the magazines outside of popular ones. Newspapers use the AP style and also have a lot of pictures.

Books for AP:
The Associated Press Stylebook 2009
The Associated Press Stylebook
The Associated Press stylebook and Briefing on Media Law 2011

The last style I am going to talk about is Chicago, you will see these in some textbooks with the footnotes on the bottom. Then you have a standard works cited page. Mostly history and some of the ancient philosophy books will have it in this format. Sometimes even law books too, but that's a rarity among books.

Book:
The Chicago Manual of Style
